How fees and billing work
Stripe Platform Maintenance Fee. Sharp & Hired's fee on customer payments collected through our Stripe integration. It applies only when money is actually collected through Sharp & Hired, and the rate depends on how your customer pays. Bank transfer (ACH) carries our lowest rate at every tier — and Stripe's own processing fee for ACH is just 0.8% capped at $5, compared to ~2.9% + $0.30 for cards. On large deposits that difference can save you hundreds of dollars per project, which is why bank transfer is the default option we present to your customers on deposits of $5,000 or more.

Caps are per transaction. Rates are uncapped where no cap is shown. Stripe's own processing fees (charged by Stripe directly to the contractor) are separate and vary by payment method: ~2.9% + $0.30 for cards, 0.8% capped at $5 for ACH, and ~5.99% + $0.30 for Affirm/Klarna financing.
Per-signature fee. On Free and Starter, a $1 fee applies to signed proposals where no deposit is collected through Sharp & Hired's Stripe integration — typically insurance-paid, lender-disbursement, or cash/check arrangements. Your first signatures are free: 5 on Free, 10 on Starter (a one-time allowance per account, not per month).
Collecting any deposit > $0 waives this fee entirely. When charged, the fee fires once per project on the first signed proposal — change orders and amendments are always $0. Pro and Business include unlimited signatures regardless of deposit.
Cancellations. Monthly and annual subscriptions both renew automatically. Any cancellation goes into effect at the end of your current billing cycle, and your account remains fully active through that final day. Cancel any time from your Settings page.
